"We realized this because we needed our birth certificates to draw up our will at the notary's," explains the founder of an agency specializing in digital strategy to the regional daily.
For Stephanie no cloud on the horizon, her marriage to her husband Thomas looks good.
But on the birth certificate of Thomas Gouritin, who was born in the town of Avranches, in the Manche department, on the other hand it is not the same story!
No marriage indicated.
“Seeing this, I told my husband to still ask the town hall if she could check the birth certificate of her twin brother, explains Stéphanie Laporte.
When they were self-employed, they had already had problems”.
Two couples impacted
And the response was quick.
For the town hall of Avranches, the couple who had married in October 2021 at the town hall of Bordeaux was officially not one!
Stephanie's husband was Antoine for the civil status, and not Thomas, the real husband.
The story could be completely innocuous, if it didn't have unfortunate consequences.
"Not only does this error not allow us to make the donation to the last living person that we wanted to make effective, but in addition, it renders my brother-in-law's and my sister-in-law's PACS obsolete", confided to us the young bride, contacted by telephone on Thursday afternoon.
Things could, however, be settled quickly if the civil status of Avranches corrects its error.
