The Syrian Virtual University, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism, announced the start of the study in the Bachelor’s Program in Tourism and Hotel Management “BTHM/College of Applied Tourism” and the Technical Institute for Tourism and Hotel Sciences “TITH” program within the scientific disciplines “Tourism Management”, hotel management and marketing tourist".
The ministry clarified on its official page on the social networking site Facebook that this program is a model of blended education “virtual – electronic – online – applied” and it will be in the training centers affiliated with the ministry, and that the duration of study in it is 4 years for the vacation and two years for the institute, and it also accepts the modern and old secondary certificate holders.” Scientific, literary, professional, hotel with all its specializations and commercial” with an average of 60 percent as a minimum for the bachelor’s degree and 50 percent as a minimum for the institute. Teaching is conducted according to the credit hour system.
Graduates of technical institutes such as “Tourism, Hotel and Commercial Sciences, Business Administration, Marketing, Palestine Technical and Technical Institute, and Damascus Intermediate Institute for Technical and Vocational Education” can continue studying on a university degree after equivalency of the study subjects they passed by “institutes upgrade”.
The ministry indicated that the first five graduates of the Dummar Center for Tourism and Hotel Training and the top five of the tourism training centers in the governorates are entitled to apply for the first time, and that admission is by comparison twice a year, one in April and the other in October of each year.
On the fourteenth of April last year, the Ministries of Tourism, Higher Education and Scientific Research launched a model for blended “blended” education in a step that is the first of its kind at the level of Syrian universities to obtain a bachelor’s degree in tourism and hotel management from the Applied College and the certificate of the Technical Institute for Tourism and Hotel Sciences at the Virtual University Syrian.
