The nationwide seven-day incidence of new corona infections has fallen sharply thanks to the Easter holidays.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value per 100,000 inhabitants on Saturday morning as 876.5.
The day before, the incidence was 1001.5.
The health authorities in Germany reported 37,568 new corona infections to the RKI within one day.
A week ago it was 150,675.
When considering the values, it must be taken into account that individual states do not report data every weekday, and at weekends, for example, Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony, Brandenburg and Saxony do not, or only partially, report data.
Fewer reports are generally to be expected on public holidays as well.
In addition, experts assume that there will be a high number of cases not recorded by the RKI – due to overburdened health authorities and because not all infected people have a PCR test done.
According to the new information, 29 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours.
A week ago there were 309 deaths – however, unlike this week, that Friday was not a holiday.
The RKI has counted 23,376,879 proven infections with Sars-CoV-2 in Germany since the beginning of the pandemic.
The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections go undetected.
The RKI gave the weekly value of infected patients in clinics per 100,000 inhabitants on Thursday as 6.41.
Here, too, there are days with incomplete reports.
The value also includes many people with a positive corona test who have another main illness.
The RKI gave the number of recovered people on Saturday as 19,802,700.
The number of people who died from or involved a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 132,929.
Around 500.19 million people have contracted the virus worldwide as of the end of 2019, and 6.19 million virus-related deaths have been reported.
