Foster dog gets a new family – boy writes a touching farewell letter

A boy takes in a puppy and has to let him go when he is old enough.

Although it breaks his heart, he addresses touching words to the new family.

Louisiana (USA) – 6-year-old Roman Duncan is a very special little boy.

Together with his family, he takes in the dog Maggie as a puppy to foster.

The animal welfare organization North Shore Animal League America (NSALA) continues to rescue dogs from euthanasia while also looking for foster homes that will take these dogs into their homes for a short time to acclimate them to "normal" everyday life and to relieve the overcrowded animal shelters.

One of these four-legged friends is the pit bull mix Maggie.

She was far too young to be put up for adoption.

So she moves in with the Duncan family at the beginning of the year as a foster dog.

And the youngest of the family, of all people, becomes something of a reference person for the dog.

Roman Duncan takes care of Maggie and teaches her everything she needs to live in a human family.
