Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach is causing a stir: A highly contagious, deadly corona "killer variant" could come in the fall.
Berlin – Although the amended Infection Protection Act and the falling corona incidences give reason for hope, for many people and politicians, above all Karl Lauterbach (59, SPD), this is no reason to breathe a sigh of relief.
Corona is still present and could become very dangerous again due to other virus variants.
A rapid spread would then be even more favored by the elimination of the mask requirement.

"There are several omicron subvariants evolving that are of concern to me.
The intervals at which new variants replace the old are becoming shorter and shorter.
This means that it is becoming increasingly difficult for us to prepare for the mutations," Lauterbach continued in an interview with "Bild am Sonntag".
