Stefan Hüttermann repaired the bird's beak with the help of modeling clay: the dentist from Dorsten used this to help an owl get a new mouth tool in his practice.
The Siberian bird of prey named Juri had previously injured his beak, reports its owner Ralf Lukavecz in a video published by the "Marler Zeitung" and "Dorstener Zeitung".
The eagle owl probably wanted to peck at the neighbor's chickens and hit the fence, according to the falconer.
"Part of the horn plate broke off and the tip of the beak also broke off."
The beak should now be able to grow back
The owner did not seek help from a veterinarian, but from a dentist friend of his.
There he can rely on the fact that high-quality materials are used, which are also used for the treatment of people.
Dentist Hüttermann was happy about the extraordinary patient.
His practice was closed to patients over the Easter holidays anyway.
"It's a nice thing to do something like that with an animal," he said of the treatment on Good Friday.
A long time ago he had already taken impressions of a Great Dane.
"In the end I still have all ten fingers, so everything seems to have gone well," says the doctor.
As a result of the treatment, the eagle owl's broken beak can now grow back.
