The French actor, director and producer Jacques Perrin died today at the age of 80 in Paris: this is what his family had announced, quoted by the France Presse agency. (HANDLE)


(ANSA) - PARIS, APRIL 21 - The French actor, director and producer Jacques Perrin died today at the age of 80 in Paris: this is what his family had announced, quoted by the France Presse agency.

"The family has the immense sadness to inform you of the death of the filmmaker Jacques Perrin, today April 21 in Paris. He died in peace at the age of 80", reads the communication sent by his son, MathieuSimonet.

Perrin was born in Paris on July 13, 1941.A starting from the 1950s, he made over 70 films, including great successes such as "Les Demoiselles de Rochefort" in 1967 and "Peaud'âne" in 1970. He also has deep ties with Italy .


   In 1966 he won two awards as best actor at the Venice Film Festival for the Italian film "Un uomo a mezzo" and for the Spanish film "La busca".

In 1977 he produced, among other things, "The Desert of the Tartars" by Valerio Zurlini, in which he too played the role of the young protagonist, Lieutenant Giovanni Drogo.

In 1988 he played the role of Salvatore as an adult in Giuseppe Tornatore's "Nuovo CinemaParadiso".

Also memorable was his interpretation in LuigiMagni's "In the name of the sovereign people" (1990), a historical-Risorgimento film in which he played the role of the brother Ugo Bassi.
