Instead of bathing suits, many Spaniards should rather pack a sledge this week.
The reason: Heavy snowfall, especially in northern and central Spain.
According to the traffic authority, up to 33 streets were affected.
The last time there was so much white splendor here in April was 20 years ago.
Resident in the car:
"The police told me that I cannot continue because this road is blocked and also the A-6. So I don't know what to do. I will try to continue and see how I get to Segovia come. I guess it won't be today."
Up to 30 centimeters of fresh snow has fallen in the regions of Madrid and Teruel, and some residents are happy about the brief onset of winter.
Resident:
"It was a surprise, this morning at 5 a.m. my husband woke up and said, 'It's snowing, it's all white', and here we are watching the snow fall, it's beautiful."
The weather service expects the situation to change in the next two days.
However, another Atlantic storm could soon hit the Spanish west coast.
