Earthquakes: new 4.8 quake this morning in Bosnia

In Bosnia-Herzegovina a new, strong earthquake of magnitude 4.8 was recorded this morning at 6.27 (same Italian time) in the south of the country, already hit on Friday evening by a powerful earthquake of magnitude 5. (ANSA)


(ANSAmed) - BELGRADE, APRIL 24 - In Bosnia-Herzegovina, a new strong earthquake of magnitude 4.8 was recorded this morning at 6.27 (same Italian time) in the south of the country, already hit on Friday evening by a powerful 5.7 magnitude earthquake which caused one death, several injuries and damage to materials.

Also this morning the epicenter was identified 14 km east of Stolac, the locality not far from Mostar, the capital of Herzegovina, both affected by the earthquake two days ago.


   Many people in panic also this morning poured into the streets.


    In the last 48 hours there has been an intense seismic swarm with dozens of aftershocks of intensity between 3.0 and 4.0.


   In the localities affected by the seismic phenomenon, surveys by technicians are underway to establish the extent of structural damage to residential buildings and public buildings.


    The strong shock on Friday evening was also felt separately in Montenegro, on the Croatian Dalmatian coast, and also in Serbia.

Among other things, a church in Dubrovnik, Croatia suffered damage.

Today is a day of mourning in Stolac in memory of the 28-year-old young woman who lives after the earthquake on Friday evening.
