The length of sleep depends on many factors.
But children need more sleep than adults.
An expert shows rules of thumb.
Munich – For many parents, going to bed every night is a nerve-wracking test: after all, they know only too well how their offspring try to haggle more every minute in order to be able to stay up.
They are encouraged, read a bedtime story or promised a "bedtime treat": But sometimes none of that helps.
With dire consequences.
At the latest when it's morning, some children just can't be woken up, 24vita.de knows.
Others react to desperate attempts by their parents with irritation and often throw tantrums.
Especially since it doesn't get better with age, because teenagers in particular just don't want to get out of bed early in the morning.
Many sleep researchers are therefore appealing to postpone the start of school at eight o'clock by one to two hours.
Finally, studies have shown that lack of sleep brings with it considerable concentration problems.
However, if you get enough sleep, you give your body enough time to regenerate.
This not only leads to better well-being and physical health, but is also said to promote cognitive abilities, according to studies.
This is especially true for small children.
They learn something new every day, which their brain has to evaluate and store.
