Dr. Leonard Izenwa, 47, a specialist family physician at the Maccabi Health Services Clinic in Dimona, was born and raised in Africa to a Nigerian father and a Ukrainian mother who met during his father's medical studies in Ukraine.
From a young age until a decade ago, Leonard, who stands 1.95 meters tall, played professionally in basketball leagues in Nigeria and even in the Hapoel Beer Sheva basketball team in the lower leagues.
"Exciting Closing of a Circle": Dr. Leonard,
Eventually Leonard decided to follow in the footsteps of his family who had established an impressive line of doctors: his two brothers, his father and grandmother chose this mission.
In 2002, he decided to immigrate to Israel following his brother, settled in the south of the country and completed his training as a family medicine specialist.
The length of his life that moved on the axis between Nigeria, Ukraine and Israel came this week to close the circle.
Leonard went on a mission to Levib on behalf of the Maccabi Health Insurance Fund, where he treats the local war wounded at Kochav Meir Field Hospital, which was established as part of the Israeli medical delegation to Ukraine.

Dr. Izenawa said: 'Born into a family of doctors from Ukraine, it is an exciting closing circle for me to treat people who have been displaced from the war.
It is our human and moral commitment to help people in need as much as possible regardless of religion, race or gender.
While there is some apprehension about reaching such a difficult war zone, the feeling that we can save people's lives transcends everything. '
