In the Oise, Marine Le Pen won the second round. The Oise department has swung to the far right for the first time, with a s

“I understand that the people are voting for her.

People are no longer afraid of extremes.

They really want it to stop”.

Jean-Christophe, in his thirties, shunned the ballot box, but he is not offended by the 58.4% obtained by the RN candidate in his town of Nanteuil-le-Haudouin (60).

1,058 voters in this town of just over 4,000 souls voted for Marine Le Pen in the second round of the presidential election.

In the surrounding Pays de Valois, it even obtained results often above 60%, far from the 41.5% gleaned nationally.

“I don't understand people, especially since here it was voting on the left before,” laments Roger Pierre, elected PC opposition member and former deputy mayor.

The entire Oise has even just shifted, for the first time, to the far right.

The far-right candidate has gleaned six points there since 2017. “What could have produced this?

It's not the foreigners, because there aren't any here, ”questions the man who has been involved in local political life for 30 years.

"There was a ras-le-bol of Macron so they believed in Marine Le Pen", slips the communist activist.

Around him, many of them have opted for the far-right candidate in reaction to five years of Macronist policy.

“I tell myself that with Marine Le Pen, why not, she can bring renewal”, assures Anne, 54 years old.

“Macron, we have already seen him do it, might as well try Marine Le Pen”, slips Laura, 24.

“I think Marine Le Pen was more for the workers, Emmanuel Macron more for the rich”, testifies Jennifer.

"I don't understand why people voted again for Macron, with everything we suffered from him for five years: the yellow vests, everything he did for the rich and the ultra-rich and then at ultimately nothing for the students, from whom he withdrew five euros, ”questions Loris-Enzo.

A few meters from him a black tag on a large facade: "Macron = dictatorship".

Freshly drawn graffiti on the city wall.

For Jean-Christophe, this RN vote makes no mystery: "The people do not vote for Marine Le Pen, but to break the system".

He hopes for a protest tomorrow: "All I'm waiting for is that the people wake up, maybe not that there is a revolution but that something happens in any case".
