A loose dog attacked a three-year-old girl in Hof (Bavaria) and bit her in the face.
The girl was walking with her 28-year-old father on a path on a federal highway on Saturday afternoon, according to the police headquarters in Upper Franconia in Bayreuth.
At a bridge, a dog without a collar suddenly ran towards the two and jumped at the child.
The animal bit the girl in the face and injured her cheek, lip and nose.
The father managed to scare the dog away.
The child reportedly had to be treated in a hospital.
The police are looking for the owner of the approximately 75-centimetre-high mongrel and are asking for information.
