The often fast-growing plants are perfect for the edges of the garden, where they spread quickly and keep weeds at bay.

Whether sweet berries, crunchy leaves or aromatic spices: edible ground covers spice up every dish.
Try integrating these plants into your menu:
Purslane

Portulaca oleracea
): This hardy, undemanding groundcover is also known as vegetable purslane or summer purslane.
Purslane is easy to grow and is used in the kitchen in salads or steamed as a leafy vegetable.
With its high content of vitamin C, magnesium, iron and omega-3 fatty acids, it is even extremely healthy.
The plant thrives particularly well in sunny locations or light shade.
Woodruff

This popular ground cover
cuts a fine figure not only in the May punch.
Woodruff enriches sweet dishes, desserts or even ice cream with its unique aroma.
However, the stems of the plant should only be eaten before flowering and in moderation: the coumarin contained in large quantities can lead to symptoms of poisoning and damage the liver.
In the garden, its delicate, white flowers are always pretty to look at and thrive as a shade plant even in dark locations.

Although wild strawberries are a little smaller than those of the garden strawberry, they are all the sweeter.
