A judge from Baden-Württemberg who has been temporarily suspended will be put on trial next week.
As the public prosecutor's office in Karlsruhe announced, the lawyer is accused of, among other things, accepting advantages in ten cases, perverting the law, taking bribes, breaching official secrecy and attempted fraud.
A police officer who has since retired and another man who temporarily worked as a car dealer would also have to answer before the Greater Criminal Chamber of the Karlsruhe Regional Court from May 3rd, it said.
A total of 15 days of negotiations are scheduled until July.
At the same time, Richter worked for car dealers
Specifically, the criminal judge is said to have worked as the "legal department" for the car dealer's company from mid-2014, taking care of the dunning process and the preparation of legal disputes.
He also used official information and is said to have violated his obligation of confidentiality.
"In return for this activity, the judge is said to have received untaxed income and vehicles are said to have been made available to him free of charge," the prosecutor said.
In another case, the judge is said to have decided a criminal case against a person close to the car dealer.
In doing so, he let himself be guided "by extraneous considerations" and is said to have demanded and received compensation for this, it said.
Accordingly, the lawyer initially suspended an arrest warrant.
In a later trial, the accused was given a suspended sentence, but the judge refrained from imposing any money or work conditions.
Monetary requirements went to the local sports club
According to the public prosecutor's office, the judge "regularly" instructed the accused to pay fines to the local sports club.
The co-defendant ex-policeman was the head of administration there.
A total of 150,000 euros is said to have flowed between 2012 and 2017.
The former police officer retaliated with repeated invitations to eat from the lawyer.
The ex-policeman is said to have passed official secrets to the judge, who then informed a person close to the car dealer about the investigation.
The suspect concerned is said to have subsequently fled abroad.
