A 31-year-old woman was stabbed to death on the street in Berlin.
According to the police, the incident happened shortly before 10 a.m. on the sidewalk of Maximilianstrasse in the Pankow district.
The woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Several people saw the act.
According to initial findings, the suspect is said to be the woman's partner.
He initially fled, but was arrested by emergency services around 1 p.m. in the immediate vicinity of the crime scene.
Witnesses recognized him there.
"Apparently he's returned," said a police spokesman.
The 42-year-old is said to have six children together with the victim, it was said.
There may be a relationship act in the room.
According to the information, the woman lived in a refugee home in the neighborhood.
A homicide detective is investigating.
