A Madrid volleyball coach arrested for abusing minors with threats: "I will end your career"

"I will end your career."

The threat did not come from the mouth of anyone, but from the president and coach himself.

The compensation demanded by the top leader of the Madrid Volleyball Club was to have sexual relations with him, according to data collected by the Police, which has led to his arrest for abuse of two 16-year-old players.

Although he has been arrested now and the victims are now of legal age, the events date back to 2019. To achieve his purposes in a simpler way, in addition to coercion, he used alcohol with the aim of more easily subduing adolescents. .

The detainee, who responds to the initials of DV, also trained the club's female cadet team, to which the affected women belonged.

It all started with the complaint of a mother, who suspected that "teammates of her daughter" could have been victims of abuse.

Throughout the investigation, thanks to the testimonies of several players and with the collaboration of the Madrid Volleyball Federation, the agents found that the threats were common, but also the rewards if they agreed to their requests.

"He took advantage of his position of superiority and told them that if they did not do what he wanted, he would kick them out of the team," reports the National Police.

As a coach, I had almost daily direct contact with the girls.

He also traveled with them to the matches that were played on other fields.

It was above all in these concentrations away from home and in the games that were played in other cities when the detainee gave free rein to alcohol to find less resistance to his wishes.

The man "tolerated and even encouraged the minors to consume alcohol in order to disinhibit them and thus overcome his resistance and be able to satisfy his libidinous spirit," the Police explained in a note.

The agents investigate if there could be more victims, since the man has been in charge of the club for several years.

One of the girls who reported having suffered these abuses has suffered from eating disorders.

The investigation has been carried out by the Family and Women's Care Unit (UFAM) of the National Police.

Once sufficient evidence was obtained of the commission of sexual abuse, the agents established a surveillance device in the vicinity of the home of the investigated, where he was arrested and his mobile phone was intervened.

The analysis of the terminal allowed to support the suspicions that weighed on this individual, because it allowed to prove the participation of the detainee in two crimes of aggravated sexual abuse.

Coincidentally, this club from the Chamberí district has been in the news recently because the senior team has just been promoted to the first division of its league.

A triumph for which the deputy mayor, Begoña Villacís, visited them this Wednesday and highlighted the hard work of the so-called "warriors".
