THE FIGARO ARCHIVES - Like Chirac and Mitterrand, the President of the Republic is planning a ceremony under the sign of sobriety.


No transfer of power this year while the outgoing president was re-elected.

Neither court of honor, nor red carpet.

For his investiture on May 7, Emmanuel Macron should simply come down from his private apartments or his office to join the Salle des fêtes, where his political and personal guests will be waiting for him, as well as the President of the Constitutional Council, Laurent Fabius.

The latter will make a speech to officially proclaim his victory, then it will be the turn of the President of the Republic to speak.

Finally, after receiving military honours, the President will review the troops of the Republican Guard while a 21-gun salute will be fired.
