(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 07 - In Italy, telemarketing represents a business worth around 4 billion euros per year, and the telephone sales of goods and services produces a turnover, for the entire supply chain, estimated at 40 billion euros.
Telemarketing which, based on the data collected by Codacons, is registering an acceleration in recent months due to the approaching entry into force of the public register of oppositions.
In Italy there are about 1,400 call center companies in "outsourcing" with an annual turnover of 2.8 billion euros (Assocontact data).
Also considering the internal call centers of the companies (telephony, energy, banks, etc.) it is estimated that the contact center industry is worth a total of 4 billion euros per year, for about 120,000 employees.
A sector capable of moving 40 billion euros through the telephone sale of goods and services: a contract signed through telemarketing activities does not generate one-off value, but recursively, often dealing with goods and services with a medium / long life cycle, as in the in case of telephone or energy contracts.
A phenomenon that of telemarketing which, according to Codacons, has been intensifying in the last period.
"First the pandemic and the greater presence of citizens at home, then the announcement of the imminent entry into force of the public register of oppositions, led to an increase in commercial calls to users - says the association - We estimate an increase in calls of about +20 % compared to the pre-Covid period, and today an average of almost 5 commercial calls per week received by an average user who has both a fixed line and a mobile line ".
