Cautious optimism: What exactly are our chances at Eurovision 2022? | Israel today

2022-05-09T10:24:36.249Z

The achievements of Neta Brasilai, Dana International, the Milk and Honey band and Yizhar Cohen, will probably not be able to be reproduced by Michael Ben David, but Israel fears that our representative will not cross the semi-final hurdle that will be broadcast on Thursday. So what do gambling sites say and why is there still room for optimism?

Eurovision Week 2022 began last night in Turin with the famous red carpet event that opened the celebrations of the annual European competition.

This year, Michael Ben-David represents Israel with the song IM and despite all the drama and fear of canceling the participation - the delegation will go up as planned to the second semi-final stage to be held on Thursday, hoping to grab one of the top ten places and qualify for the final.

Unfortunately for Michael, the gambling sites do not predict much success for him.

With the opening of betting, Shiro IM screwed up in 23rd place, and as the days went by our place deteriorated to the 30th districts with the negative record being 38th (out of 40 countries).

But last night the betting tables placed us in 32nd place.

Far from Neta's achievement, but still in competition.

But the cautious optimism comes from betting on the semi-finals.

Of the 18 countries that will compete in the second semi-final, the betting sites place us in 14th place - although a position that does not give rise to the grand final, but it is certainly not the last place, and as befits betting sites, everything can still change.

The one currently at the top of the table, and the country most likely to win is Ukraine with 48% to win.

Among the fans of the competition understand that Ukraine's victory is in light of the war between Russia and Ukraine, and admit that without the situation in Ukraine, it would have been Sweden or Italy who would have been privileged to wave the statue of the competition.
