"I am happy that Eurovision returns to Italy, it would be nice if an international success would start from that stage in Turin, capable of anticipating a scenario of peace, exactly as it happened to me".

Toto Cutugno says it, adding: "In 1990 I won in Zagreb with 'Insieme: 1992', which became an anthem of a united Europe before it was realized and even then, just like today, the Yugoslav conflict in which it lost life - recalls - one of the Eurovision choristers who told me about the difficulties of his country ".

"Today as then - adds Toto Cutugno - there is a need for a cohesive Europe that does its part for peace. In the months following the victory, in my shows around Europe, the audience accompanied me in chorus. In particular I was moved one evening, during a concert in Romania: they made me find a group of children who sang 'Together' as a hymn of European unity. No borders, no borders, a single flag, all brothers of a single continent. I was very struck by that gesture. Today - adds the former Eurovision winner, very popular both in Moscow and Kiev - I imagine Russian and Ukrainian children together under the same dream and under the same sky and I would like that hymn to resound for them".
