The police usually advise against taking investigations into your own hands.
However, a 27-year-old from Hanover apparently had the right instincts – and caught the thief of her heart-sick Jack Russel terrier herself.
According to the police, her 13-year-old male "Lucki" was stolen in front of a supermarket last Wednesday evening.
The owner had the animal leashed in front of the store when she went shopping.
After shopping, the dog was gone.
Video footage showed an elderly man taking the dog outside the supermarket.
However, a search by the police in the vicinity of the market was initially unsuccessful.
»Lucki« back – lucky keeper
On Friday evening, the owner then discovered an older man who matched the description of the perpetrator.
The senior had just wanted to remove a wanted ad posted by the woman, police said.
When asked about the theft by the woman, the 89-year-old finally admitted to the crime and had the woman accompany him home, where she was able to hug »Lucki« again.
The investigation into theft against the 89-year-old is ongoing.
