A man climbed a radio mast about 30 meters high in Ribnitz-Damgarten in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and hung the red flag of the former Soviet Union there.

The incident happened on Sunday.

According to the Stralsund police, the man had entered a fenced company site and was observed by a witness climbing the mast.

According to the witness, the suspect only spoke broken German.

He hasn't been caught yet.

The local volunteer fire brigade removed the red flag again.

The criminal police began investigations into suspected trespassing and were looking for witnesses.

The Soviet Union usually celebrates victory in the »Great Patriotic War« on May 9th.

However, May 8 marks the day of the unconditional surrender of the German Wehrmacht in World War II in many European countries.
