Nepalese search and rescue forces have recovered 21 victims of the plane crash in the Himalayas.

Another person is still missing, a spokesman for the Nepalese civil aviation authority told the dpa news agency.

The bodies would be taken to the capital, Kathmandu.

In the machine with a total of 22 people on board there were also two residents in Hesse, according to the Interior Ministry there.

The ARD and dpa report that the people are a 56-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man from central Hesse.

"Unfortunately, at this point in time, we have to assume that the two people are no longer alive," said a ministry spokesman.

The Hessian police have informed relatives and look after them.

From the Foreign Office it is said that they are in close contact with the Nepalese authorities and the relatives and support the relatives.

Flight should only last a few minutes

Air traffic control lost contact with the machine around 10 a.m. local time on Sunday morning.

The plane of the Nepalese airline Tara Air was on its way from Pokhara - a popular tourist destination around 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu - to Jomsom.

According to the plan, the flight should take around 15 to 20 minutes.

Pokhara is the starting point for numerous trekking tours, including the Annapurna Circuit.

The Annapurna massif is a popular hiking region in Nepal.

However, the Pokhara-Jomsom flight route is one of the most accident-prone routes in Nepal with many mountains and a lot of wind.

According to the Nepali Times, at least 74 people have died in five plane crashes on this route since 1997.

At the time of the crash on Sunday, visibility was poor with heavy cloud cover and some rain, according to Nepalese police.

According to the Nepali Times, it was a 43-year-old Twin Otter 9N-AET aircraft.

TUI denies business relationships

The crash site was difficult to access.

It is located at an altitude of around 4000 meters in the foothills of the Himalayas in the Mustang district of northern Nepal.

Because of the poor visibility, the search for the machine was interrupted during the night from Sunday to Monday.

The wreck was found on Monday morning.

In addition to the two Germans, there were four Indians and 16 Nepalese on board, according to the airline and the police.

The airline states on its website that it is on a list of recognized airlines from the German TUI Group and that safety analyzes are carried out every two years.

TUI says that this information is incorrect and that it has no business relationship with the airline or carries out audits.

"On the contrary: it is not recommended to use the airline," says TUI.

The ARD had first reported on the information on the website.

The Department of Civil Aviation announced on Monday that there would be an investigation into the crash.
