Elizabeth II celebrates her platinum jubilee this Thursday, June 2. She notably appeared on the Buckingham balcony alongside other members of the royal family, as part of the Trooping the Color parade.

She will celebrate, for three days, her 70 years of reign.

Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee kicked off this Thursday, June 2, with the Trooping the Color Parade, which marks the official festivities organized for the Queen's birthday.

An event during which the royal family appeared united on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, as tradition dictates.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, as non-active members of the Windsor clan, were however absent from said balcony.

The latter attended the celebrations from the former office of the Duke of Wellington.

Moments earlier, Kate Middleton and Camilla from Cornwall had arrived in a carriage with Princes George and Louis, as well as Princess Charlotte, under the eyes of Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie, attentive to the spectacle.

The queen arrived on the balcony of Buckingham, cheered by tens of thousands of people massed near the palace in London, alongside her cousin, the Duke of Kent.

The pranks of Prince Louis

"Since the late Duke of Edinburgh stopped attending state functions years before his death, the Duke of Kent has been a very high profile participant in these major state events," journalist Huw Edwards explained on the BBC.

The Cambridges were thus present on the balcony.

They were accompanied by Prince Charles and Camilla of Cornwall, as well as Princess Anne, her husband Timothy Laurence, Sophie of Wessex and Prince Edward, as well as their children James and Louise.

Spectators were able to admire the antics of Prince Louis, see the Queen burst out laughing and the Duchess of Cambridge marvel at the aerial ballet.
