Big bands, more sustainability and band trouble: Rock im Park 2022 ended on Sunday.

Read our summary of the festival in Nuremberg here.

The sky is on fire for the finale.

When Muse, the third and last headliner of Rock im Park - appropriately with burning stage decorations - entered the Utopia Stage, Petrus gilded the moment.

As if to say: Look, that was a magnificent festival.

In fact, the organizers and the emergency services draw a very positive conclusion to three days of rock party.

And the fans?

The thought of 75,000 people on the zeppelin field may have made one or the other nervous.

After two years of staying at home and keeping your distance, an event like Rock im Park is a stark contrast.

Or an opportunity to get closer to each other again.

Rock im Park 2022: More consideration among rock fans

Complete strangers who share a love of music and bands celebrate as if they had known each other forever.

The rock fans have become more cautious, they pay a little more attention to each other and sometimes allow a little more space.

But you also lie blissfully in each other's arms and you dance, celebrate and bawl together until your voice fails.

A lot of gratitude comes from the artists for this, nobody just unwinds a program and disappears again.

Whether Jan Delay, who represents the far north in Franconia with Marteria and Scooter on Saturday, or The Offspring and the Broilers, who make the crowd go crazy on Saturday with the best festival weather: The fact that they are finally allowed to perform again unleashes the joy of playing in all musicians .

Michael Poulsen and the metal rockers Volbeat had the first acclaimed headlining performance on Friday.

And had to rock against the rain at least part of the time.

The fact that the audience didn't just stay, but showed full commitment made the Danes visibly happy.

They thanked me profusely.

Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong directed Saturday's fans with mischievous glee, blowing kisses at the crowd.

"It's been two years, and it's so damn good to be back!" he exclaimed and actually: It's just good that they're back.

The furious finale was reserved for Muse.

With the right mix of spectacular show and closeness to the fans, the Brits lived up to their reputation as a great live band and brought the three days dedicated to music to a worthy conclusion.

An innovation at Rock im Park caused frustration among visitors

The Rock im Park principle still works, even in the background.

The organizers used the break and made the festival more sustainable.

Green electricity from the region, guarded bicycle parking spaces: That fits in with the times.

Of course, not everything can run smoothly at a festival of this magnitude.

There was criticism in advance of the new cashless payment system - which worked well in the end.

And justifiable resentment about long queues at the entrance, which cost some festival visitors their favorite band's performance.

Unfortunately, the attempt to equalize the masses, also due to a lack of information on site, sent many visitors on an odyssey across the huge site.

Perhaps the organizers will adjust this for the next edition.

The planning is already underway: From June 2nd to 4th, 2023 Nuremberg can rock the park again.
