(ANSA) - TEL AVIV, 06 JUN - Slap to the Bennett government.
The Knesset rejected at first reading the law that was supposed to renew Israeli civil laws for residents of Jewish settlements in the West Bank.
The measure was rejected with 58 votes to 52. The majority were missing 6 votes: two deputies of the coalition voted against while another 4 were absent.
Now the government has until July 1 to look for another vote and according to the media it could impose a vote of confidence on the measure to pass it.
