The new vaccine, called 214, contains equal amounts of mRNA of the spike protein for the original strain of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the omicron variant.
Thus the body can learn to deal simultaneously with the two versions of the corona virus through learning the penetration protein, the spike protein, of the two variants.
According to the publication of a modern company, the results of the study show a better immune response of the bivalent vaccine 214 compared to the existing vaccine (mRNA-1273), both against the omicron variant and against the original strain of the original corona virus SARS-CoV-2.
The vaccine was tested in an open label study, comparing the administration of a second booster (fourth dose) of the new bivalent vaccine compared to a fourth dose of the existing vaccine, three months after receiving the third mRNA-1273 vaccine.
Modern company is now testing the ability of the new dual vaccine also against the new sub-variants of the omicron strain that have developed in the world: (BA2, Ba2.12, BA4 / 5) The company expects a positive response, given the training response observed against the omicron variant.
The company said in a statement that "these results indicate that we have been able to identify the vaccine that will cover the variants that await us in the fall season of 2022."
