Three schoolgirls in Dortmund who waved a rainbow flag as a sign of tolerance were attacked in the schoolyard.
The incident at the Robert Koch secondary school made waves, especially on the Internet, after individual students had shared videos on social media channels.
The school management was stunned, but the attitude of the school community remained tolerance, emphasized headmaster Wolfgang Siebeck on Thursday when asked by the dpa news agency.
According to the school administration, a week ago three eighth-graders carried a rainbow flag across the schoolyard during a break on the occasion of Pride Month.
They were booed and sprayed with water guns by other students, and one student snatched the flag from them.
No teacher did anything
Several media had reported.
The scene blogger "Wikiriot" also made the scandal known on Instagram.
She reports that a student wrote to her.
A veritable mob of students can be seen on videos.
According to the report, no teacher took any action.
"We deeply regret the incident," said Headmaster Siebeck.
The scene that can be seen in a video does not reflect the attitude of the majority at the Realschule.
The videos mainly show children in the 5th and 6th grades.
The three affected students have already been spoken to intensively.
"Together we will take the incident as an opportunity to do even more to promote tolerance and empathy towards others," said Siebeck.
But now to condemn the entire school community would be unfair.
The secondary school is attended by around 500 students from over 30 nations.
