A 28-year-old man was confirmed today (Thursday) for monkey pox after arriving at Sheba Hospital with suspicious symptoms, shortly after returning from a trip abroad.
For the first time, the Ministry of Health warns against transmitting the disease from mother to fetus.
The ministry monitors information around the world and is in contact with the health authorities in the various countries.
To date, about 1,300 cases of the disease have been detected worldwide.
The Ministry of Health calls on those who have developed a fever and blistering rash and have returned from abroad or have been in close contact with a person who is suspected of having chickenpox to contact the attending physician.
Monkey pox is a viral disease that usually manifests itself in fever, blistering rash and enlargement of lymph nodes.
