(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 10 - In Piazza Santi Apostoli in Rome, but also in the other main cities of Italy.
The 'empty pots protest' was staged in front of the prefectures with the aim of asking for government intervention against ilcaro-vita.
The pots, empty, to symbolize the citizens' difficulty in "satisfying essential needs, such as bringing lunch and dinner to the table daily" explain the consumer associations that organized it.
"The cost of living today costs an average of 2,753 euros per year for every single Italian family, and the increase in retail prices is having devastating consequences for our economy, to the point that food consumption, according to the latest Istat data, in the first 4 months of 'year fell by 2.7% ",
denounced the president of Assoutenti, Furio Truzzi.
The requests coming from the associations, which took to the streets in a unified manner, range from the reduction of the burden of system charges to the elimination of VAT on fuel excise duties, through the revision of the tariff system and the establishment of a fund to combat energy poverty.
In some cities, the demonstrators managed to get a meeting with the prefects for a confrontation on their platform of proposals, but in the capital this did not happen: "It is singular that the prefect of Rome did not make himself available to listen to us, showing a strong insensitivity to the citizens. and the families who are facing this difficult situation ", denounce the organizers.
