It takes a certain benevolence and faith in human nature to speak positively of the East today, as the images that mark our minds are spattered with blood, misery and horrors.
For its 19th edition, the photo festival of La Gacilly (Morbihan) remains on its line - "questioning environmental and societal issues" -, and offers an offbeat journey, and always in the open air, through Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan.
"Three countries that have an imagination
," says Cyril Drouhet, curator of the event, during the opening.
And three countries that do not only rhyme with despair.
Three countries where you can laugh, love, learn, dream or pray.
Everyone reserves their surprises.
The first arises in the black and white photographs of Paul Almasy (1906-2003), a photographer unfairly recognized in France when he possesses the same delicacy as Doisneau.
But at home, we see above all a carefree and modern Afghanistan…
