A week entirely dedicated to Vermouth di Torino Igp, an Italian flavored wine: this is what the Vermouth Consortium proposes with a first promotional edition scheduled from 26 June to 2 July.
The first edition of the Vermouth Week in Turin is aimed at locals and barmen to promote and spread the tradition and transversality of the historic product that has its origins in Piedmont since 1800. Local barmen are invited to experiment with new recipes for the preparation of a cocktail , using the Vermouth of Turin.
Vermouth di Torino, whose name derives from the German term wermut which defines Artemisia absinthium (wormwood) and which is the main aromatic base in the preparation of flavored wine, is classified according to color (White, Amber,
Rosato or Rosso) and the amount of sugar used in its preparation.
The specification also provides for the Vermouth Superiore type which refers to products with an alcoholic strength of not less than 17% vol., Made with at least 50% of Piedmontese wines and flavored with herbs, other than absinthe, grown or harvested in Piedmont.
