Pixar's Toy Story spinoff Lightyear won't air in some countries because it features two women kissing.

Children and families in

Saudi Arabia

,

United Arab Emirates

,

Kuwait

and

Malaysia

will probably never know why a Buzz Lightyear action figure is being created in the first place.

Pixar's

Toy Story prequel Lightyear , owned by

Disney

since 2006

, is being pulled off the air

because of a same-sex kiss, according to

Variety .

Disney previously self-censored the woman kiss in the Pixar film Lightyear

As per the report, Disney previously edited the kiss between two homosexual characters from the Pixar film itself.

In one scene, the Space Ranger character Alisha and her partner kiss on the lips in greeting

.

"Overtly gay affection" should be censored, according to the report.

Only because of an open letter from the Pixar animators did Disney put the kissing scene back into Lightyear.

United Arab Emirates tolerated lesbian kissing in Toy Story spinoff Lightyear - until social media complained about "insulting Islam".

Variety

believes that "Lightyear" was never submitted to the Saudi censorship board in the first place, knowing it wouldn't pass anyway.

In the United Arab Emirates, the "Toy Story" prequel "Lightyear" was first approved and now banned.

According to the report, protests had been heard on social media that the

Pixar film “Lightyear” would insult Muslims and Islam

In the

West Asian region

, films that deal with or contain

sex, homosexuality and religious themes

are generally cut to comply with censorship regulations.

The Southeast Asian country of Malaysia, which is becoming less and less aligned with Western values, has rejected all films containing "homosexual and unnatural sex," according to the report.

It's not the first time films have been banned from showing in Saudi Arabia.

Marvel's "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness"

also

contains a homosexual character,

"West Side Story"

a transsexual.

"Eternals"

was also not allowed to be shown because Disney reportedly refused to cut a same-sex kiss from the film.

Malaysia recently reportedly faced similar problems over gay scenes in

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

and the Elton John biopic

Rocket Man
