The Russian clubs are officially out of the Euroleague and Eurocup also for the 2022/23 season.
This was established today by the board of the ECA which then suspended the multi-year license of CSKA Moscow, one of the founding members of the competition.
At the basis of the reasons with which the assembly announced the decision, which comes after the exclusion established in March due to the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, there are "the growing difficulties of playing against teams from that country, which include restrictions on air travel and bans or other restrictions on issuing visas to Russian residents ".
The ECA highlights that this is not an isolated choice: "This decision also took into consideration similar decisions taken by other international team sports organizations such as the IOC, UEFA, FIBA,
Ax Milano and Segafredo Bologna will participate in the next Euroleague;
the two wild cards were awarded to Partizan Belgrade and Valencia.
In Eurocup, on the other hand, Dolomiti Energia Trento, Germani Brescia and Reyer Venezia will defend the Italian flag.
