You have to follow the rivers for a long time, lift dozens of stones and resist the crushing heat of summer to track down the most beautiful snakes in France.
In the north of the Gard, near the Aiguières waterfall, vipers and grass snakes hide to take advantage of the shade synonymous with freshness.
It is on the banks of this river that Solal and Valentin decided to unearth them.
Passionate about reptiles, they share their discoveries on the social network TikTok.
Their goal: to show that “these critters are almost all harmless”.
“As long as we don't bother them, the snakes have no reason to attack us,” insists Valentin.
Housed under a stone in the middle of a basin, the first snake of the day is as spotted as peaceful according to the two adventurers.
“The only thing she can do against us is to defecate on us,” explains Solal, used to traveling to the ends of the earth and seeing more “dangerous” reptiles.
In France, “the risks are low”, he repeats.
“You just have to be careful with the children, and go directly to the hospital in the event of a viper bite”.
