In nine out of ten cases, the fires are of human origin.
If they are often due to recklessness, a part, difficult to assess, is linked to a criminal act.
“70% are caused by negligence, 30% by a voluntary act”, advanced on July 15 Éric Brocardi, spokesperson for the firefighters.
“With nearly 300,000 fires per year, the voluntary nature is estimated in around 10% of cases”, writes for its part the judicial pole of the national police.
