(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 26 - The price of Amazon's Prime subscription rises from 36 to 49.90 euros a year.
Amazon communicates this in a letter to subscribers by writing that the price changes from 15 September 2022. The monthly Prime subscription will increase from 3.99 euros to 4.99 euros.
"The reasons for this change - we read - are related to a general and substantial increase in overall costs due to inflation, which affects the specific costs of the Amazon Prime service in Italy and are based on external circumstances, beyond our control. It is the first time that we change the price of Prime in Italy from 2018 ".
Faced with an inflation of 8% - writes the Codacons - Amazon has unilaterally decided to increase the cost of the annual subscription by as much as + 38.6%, more than 4 times the growth rate of retail prices, while the cost of the monthly rate rises by 25% - explains Codacons - Abnormal prices that place users in a position of evident disadvantage, and on which the company must turn around.
Codacons therefore asks the company to meet.
