The era of long waits in front of the deposit machine could soon be history.
Kaufland is testing a new machine that is five times faster than the conventional one.
Neckarsulm – the matter must be approached cautiously and very cautiously.
Just no hectic movements, because then the alarm will be triggered - a completely normal situation in front of the deposit machine.
As soon as the bottle is crooked and crooked or has a scratch, the machine spits it out again.
It can take minutes for the machine to accept all the bottles.
But that should be the end of it now.
A Kaufland branch is testing a new reverse vending machine that can hold up to 100 bottles at a time.
Kaufland is testing new deposit machines - "five times faster"
The company is testing a new deposit machine in a branch in Wiesbaden.
The innovative machine is designed to take up to 100 non-returnable and reusable PET bottles and cans with just one slot.
Kaufland announced this in a press release.
When the bottles are in, the input flap is closed.
Then the counting and sorting process starts.
The return of the returnable bottles should be about five times faster than with the conventional deposit return.
A simplified process should encourage more customers to return their returnable bottles.
Customers often have the problem that they cannot hand in all returnable bottles in a supermarket.
Some experts point out to consumers that supermarkets are obliged to take them back.
The proportion of recycling is thus steadily increasing, as the company writes.
Plastic is reduced and the goal of using more recycling material is promoted.
What do you think of the new deposit return system?
Kaufland: New deposit machine still in the test phase
"Especially for customers with larger quantities of empties, the new machine is an ideal addition, as it significantly speeds up and simplifies the return of empties," says Florian Hermanski, who is responsible for the deposit return system at Kaufland Germany.
The discussion as to whether there is an upper limit for the return of returnable bottles would also be settled for the time being.
Customers are said to have quickly gotten used to throwing in bottles and cans through the large opening of the new machine.
The test will run until the end of the year.
Kaufland will then decide whether the new reverse vending machine will also be used in other branches.
Customers can possibly save their time and nerves.
