When rapper Lil Wayne was 12, he attempted suicide.

A police officer found the injured boy at the time and took him to the hospital, saving his life.

Now Lil Wayne mourns the loss of his savior, Robert "Uncle Bob" Hoobler.

The portal nola.com had previously reported that Hoobler had died at the age of 65.

"Everything happens for a reason," Lil Wayne wrote on Instagram for a photo showing Hoobler: "I was dying when I met you in this very place.

You refused to let me die.” Everything that doesn't happen has a reason why it doesn't happen.

“That reason is you and faith.

RIP Uncle Bob," says the rapper: "Aunt Kathie was waiting for you.

I will love and miss you both and live for all of us.«

Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., was 12 years old when he shot himself in the chest with a gun at his family's home in New Orleans, USA.

Hoobler is said to have listened to the police radio at the time, even though he was not on duty.

According to nola.com, he and five other police officers drove to the scene.

Since no ambulance was available, the police apparently took the injured boy to the hospital themselves.

'Stay awake, my son.

You will get better.

You'll see," Hoobler said to the boy, who is said to have been lying on his lap, according to the report.

"Don't worry, my name is Uncle Bob"

In an interview with the "Daily Mail" a few years ago, Lil Wayne told how he perceived what was happening.

The police broke down the front door.

Police officers jumped over him to look for weapons and drugs.

Only one stayed with him: Robert Hoobler.

The policeman called a colleague to drive the car.

Hoobler carried the boy into the car.

"He didn't hand me over to an ambulance and say, 'You take him.' He took me to the hospital room and stood there waiting for the doctor to say, 'He'll make it,'" the rapper recalled.

Wayne must have just missed his heart when he was shot in the chest.

His rescuer said to him: "Don't worry, my name is Uncle Bob." "Uncle Bob" was "white as snow," Wayne said: "My life was saved by a white man, I don't know what racism is. «

Wayne shooting himself in the chest as a child was long considered an accident.

The 39-year-old later explained that he had problems with his mental health and was trying to commit suicide.

He also worked his story into songs, such as the tracks "Let It All Work Out" and "London Roads".
