(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 26 - A noir thriller set among the rarefied atmospheres of the Norwegian summer, where the sun never sets: it is The Hanging Sun - Midnight Sun ", taken from the bestseller of the same name by Jo Nesbo, directed by FrancescoCarrozzini, chosen as Closing Film, Out of Competition, of the 79th Venice International Film Festival. Written by Stefano Bises, it will arrive at the cinema from 12 September and soon exclusively on Sky Cinema and streaming only on NOW and is interpreted by an international cast which includes Alessandro Borghi, Jessica Brown Findlay, Sam Spruell, FrederickSchmidt, Raphael Vicas, Peter Mullan and Charles Dance.
The story revolves around a man on the run, John (Borghi), who finds shelter in the thick of the forest, near an isolated village in the far north, where religion dominates, the sun never sets and people seem to belong to another era. .
Between him and her fate there are only Lea (Brown Findlay), a woman in trouble but with great strength, and her son Caleb, a curious child with a pure heart.
As the midnight sun blurs reality and imagination, John must face the tragic past that haunts him.
The film, by Sky Original, is an Italian-British co-production, produced by Cattleya - part of ITV Studios -, Greenland and Sky.
