But if you ask the director of the Venice Film Festival (August 31 - September 10) the state of health of Italian cinema carefully observed for the selection announced today, beyond the choice made for the bill, the answer is: " Last year I was too optimistic, this time I came to terms with a panorama of lights and shadows. The films selected are excellent, in some cases excellent, but - answers ANSA Barbera - I have seen many Italian films but yes focused on quality and not quantity ".

The number of productions, around 250 films, "is exorbitant for the market,

an unprecedented amount of money is circulating and it seems that we want to intercept these flows of resources rather than develop the scripts well and follow the shooting.

I must admit - he continues - reluctantly that many are below acceptable qualities for the history of Italian cinema ". Almost a bubble ready to explode," and I hope that a reflection on this will soon be made ". (ANSA).
