The manufacturer Bergader Privatkäserei is recalling its popular Bavaria Blu soft cheese from the market.
Listeria was found in one sample.
The product went on sale in Germany and Austria.
Munich - The well-known Bavaria Blu soft cheese is being recalled from the market in the interests of consumer protection.
The federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia are affected by the cheese recall.
The Bergader private cheese dairy from Waging am See has now informed about this.
The product found its way into the food trade not only in Germany but also in Austria.
In Germany, the cheese was sold by the discounters Aldi Süd (individual regions), Lidl, Netto, Norma and Penny.
According to the manufacturer, the retail chains Brugger, Eurogast, Grissemann, Kastner, Louiz, Metro, Pfeiffer GH, REWE (AGM C+C markets / BILLA PLUS), WEDL and Winkler may be affected in Austria.
According to the manufacturer, only products with the following information are affected:
item description | Bavaria Blu The Spicy 65 % |
pack size | 300 gram pack |
best before date | 08/29/2022 |
batch | 0140 and 0102 |
EAN Code | 4006402020550 |
Manufacturer | Bergader Privatkäserei GmbH |
The manufacturer states that the reason for the recall was that listeria was found in a sample during an internal routine check during monitoring.
No listeria could be detected in the end products.
However, it cannot be completely ruled out that the end product contains Listeria.
Consumers who bought the soft cheese in one of the markets are asked not to consume the cheese.
Pregnant women, the elderly and people with a weakened immune system are particularly advised against it.
They could develop serious illnesses with blood poisoning and meningitis.
Only recently did the Federal Office for Consumer Protection issue a product warning for grated Emmental because there were foreign objects in the goods.
Recalls happen again and again, the most common causes are microbiological contamination such as germs, viruses or bacteria, but also foreign bodies.
