Three years have passed since the end of the hit series "Game of Thrones" and from the first reviews it seems that its subsidiary series is going its way • While just like in the good old days of Game of Thrones, the series is fun, interesting and visually invested

After a 3-year wait, yesterday (Saturday) the premiere episodes of the subsidiary series of "Game of Thrones" - "House of the Dragon" - were broadcast in the USA. Following the end of the original series, which disappointed many fans, many wondered if there was any justification for the large investment allocated to the new story , or is this another extortion by the brand for ratings purposes. From the first reviews published around the world, it seems that the critics were impressed by the premiere episodes of the series, although some believe that it pales in comparison to its predecessor.

The series takes place 200 years before the struggle for the crown presented to us in "Game of Thrones" and like its predecessor, it is also based on a novel by George R.R.

Martin called "Fire and Blood".

At the center of the plot this time is the Targaryen family.

Unlike the exiled Daenerys' position in the mother series, in the current story the line firmly rules together with her dragonia in the kingdom of Westeros.

But things are destabilizing and may change in light of power struggles between family members and in light of forbidden novels that may change the political map.

The British Guardian had a positive impression of "Dragon House" and claimed that it was a "resounding success".

"Just like in the good old days of 'Game of Thrones', the series is fun, interesting and visually invested," it says.

"By the end of the premiere, you will return to a world full of dragons, valerian glass, beheadings, plot twists and forbidden love stories - all of which are performed in a much scarier way than you thought."

In addition, in the BBC, it is claimed that the new story is "just like 'Game of Thrones' only not in the way you remembered".

It is also written that although the series differs from "Game of Thrones" on several levels, it manages to feel like a natural continuation of the original.

"As in the first seasons of 'Game of Thrones', the current series also begins in a moderate and relatively modest way," says the review.

"She takes time to build the characters and establish the relationships between them and the feeling is preserved that the next bloodbath is around the corner. This is a series with a unique atmosphere, well written and beautifully directed."

Like them, the Telegraph also praised the new series, but claimed that it pales in comparison to its predecessor, especially in terms of the characters.

"It is not a matter of disappointment, but the opening episode did not reach the levels of 'Game of Thrones'," it was claimed.

"Beyond the sex, the blood and the battles, what made the series was its original and touching characters with whom one could easily identify. Few of the characters in 'House of the Dragon' compare to the same level. The lack of a Tyrion Lannister-style character who acts in Machiavellian ways to achieve her goals is especially noticeable." .

The Hollywood Reporter against the Targaryen family: "The wigs of the members of the famous dynasty do not look believable on any actor", photo: IMDB

The Hollywood Reporter praised the new series in general, but claimed that the main problem with it is "an excess of Targaryens".

"The wigs of the members of the famous dynasty sometimes don't work and actually don't look believable on any actor," it was explained.

"However, this is a secondary problem that pales in comparison to the lack of diversity in the characters of the series and the setting. We have no interest in a series that deals with one family. In 'Game of Thrones' we had more than that. It seems that the personality lines associated with each house take over the being of the characters that are members of it."

"Less wit, less tension, less sex"

On the website The Wrap, they cooled the enthusiasm surrounding the new series and even claimed that it was a disappointment.

"Although at the center of the plot are powerful dragons, the plot itself does not take off anywhere," it says.

"The new heroine is not Daenerys, the wit that characterized the original series has disappeared, the sex scenes are dry and the tension has decreased. Mostly it is told about unpleasant people who do unpleasant things to each other."

As you remember, the new HBO original series was produced with a huge budget of about 150 million dollars.

The broadcasting network hopes that, despite the anger among the fans at the end of the original series, they will feel longing for the rich world of the kingdom of Westeros and return to the screens.

As expected, even before the series aired, it created a big buzz.

Now it remains to be seen if the series will pass the test of the first season and manage to sweep the audience once more.
