(ANSA) - MEXICO CITY, AUG 21 - The former Mexico Attorney General Jesus Murillo Karam is being held in protective custody so that his presence is guaranteed on Wednesday at the preliminary hearing that will establish whether the magistrate will be indicted for the affair of the 43 'disappeared' students in 2014 in Ayotzinapa.
This was revealed by a judicial source.
Murillo Karam was arrested yesterday, along with 64 other fragilitaries and policemen, all accused of complicity with organized crime, kidnapping, torture, murder and obstruction of justice.
In fact, he was the author of the so-called "Historical Truth", the result of the official 2015 investigation into the case, commissioned by the then Mexican president, Enrique PeñaNieto.
Conclusions that did not convince anyone and did not speak of the involvement, or at least of the complicity of the Mexican justice and police forces in that crime, defined as a 'State crime' by the recent investigation published on Friday, coordinated by Undersecretary of the Interior Alejandro Encinas and wanted by current Mexican president, Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador.
On the night of September 26-27, 2014, 43 students from an institute in Ayotzinapa, in the southern state of Guerrero, who had booked buses to participate in a protest demonstration in Mexico City, were kidnapped and murdered and their bodies disappeared by the drug traffickers' cartel. 'Guerreros Unidos', to which they had been shot by the policemen, for reasons not yet fully understood: a story that has deeply shaken Mexico, raising a long wave of indignation, and the whole world.
