(ANSA) - BERLIN, AUGUST 21 - Joe Biden, Emmanuel Macron, OlafScholz and Boris Johnson launch an appeal for military "restraint" around the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, where bombings of which they accuse Moscow and Kiev have followed one another for weeks.

The four Western leaders, during a telephone conversation, agreed on the need for "a swift inspection" by the IAEA of the nuclear plant.

And in the interview they assured that they will continue to support Kiev, according to a statement in a statement.


    According to a White House note, "the leaders reiterated their continued support for Ukraine's efforts to defend itself from Russian aggression" and "discussed the situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, including the need to avoid military operations near the plant and the importance of of the IAEA visit as soon as possible to ascertain the state of the security system ".

They also "discussed the negotiations on Iran's nuclear program, the need to strengthen support for partners in the Middle East region and joint efforts to prevent and block Iran's destabilizing regional activities".
