A mother duck waddles around relaxed with her chicks.

But suddenly one falls into a gully and then all at once.

What to do?

The duck mama probably didn't expect this hidden danger.

After all, she is much too big herself to slip through a manhole cover.

Unfortunately, her chicks are not yet, as the duck realizes with a start when the first one is swallowed up by the ground.

"Sad duck story with a happy ending" is the title of the video that the user "thehilarious.ted" posted on Instagram.

And indeed: it is actually a sad story.

Because a duck mom loses her chicks and the world can no longer understand why her offspring is suddenly one floor below.

One floor up is a duck that is catapulted into the air by a fountain.

But how the events play out in the short video is hilarious.

Because after the duck mom runs past a gully with her chicks, she suddenly notices that one of her pupils is no longer there.

Frightened, she immediately runs back in the direction of the gully.

And now the fatal thing: all the other chicks follow her instinctively and also run back to the gully and also right over it.

These ducklings who got lost in Paris also follow their mama.

And "bang" it has already happened: All the chicks, except for one, fall into the gully and keep the lost sibling company.

The duck mama stops in shock, turns to her chicks and cackles excitedly.

In the background you can see how the last chick is still holding on to a wider crossbar.

True to the motto "Fuck it!

I'll be there too!”, as one user comments, the chick jumps down to its siblings like a “cannonball”.

Amazed, another user asks: "What was the last one thinking?" A chick that fell into a gully was rescued by the fire brigade with a cell phone.

The duck mama is now chattering even more excitedly and starts walking around the gully.

But as the title suggests: This duck story has a happy ending.

A helper brings the family together, climbs into the gully with the chicks and brings all the animals back to the surface unharmed.
