The four Catholic nuns who had been kidnapped in Nigeria were released.
This was announced by the director of the pontifical foundation Aid to the Church in Need Alessandro Monteduro.
The nuns of the Congregation of the Sisters of Jesus the Savior, who according to their names seem to belong to the very Catholic local Igbo ethnic group, were taken in the State of Imo on Sunday morning while on their way to mass, as a police spokesman specified.
The kidnapping by gunmen took place near Okigwe, even though the nuns belong to a group based in Port Harcourt, in the neighboring River State, the Premium Times website indicated.
