(ANSA) - RIGA, 25 AUG - The Soviet monumental complex of Riga dedicated to the victory in the Second World War has been demolished.
The demolition of the monument - a 79-meter obelisk - was decided by the government of the Latvian capital in May following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The monument had become a rallying point for Kremlin supporters in Latvia and its demolition provoked protests by the Russian minority in the Baltic state.
