(ANSA) - MILAN, AUG 26 - A retreat of the glacier front by more than 40 linear meters in the last year.
For a total of about 400 meters of setback in the last ten years, from 2011 to today.
According to glaciological operators, one of the most significant reductions occurred between 2015 and 2016 and it is estimated that the end-of-season figure will reach at least 50 meters of retreat.
This is the photograph offered by the monitoring on the Forni Glacier, in Lombardy, in the third stage of the Caravan of the Glaciers 2022, a Legambient campaign with the partnership of the Italian Glaciological Committee which monitors the state of health of the Alpine glaciers, increasingly under the control of the climate crisis.
